MORINA FLUTE LESSONS 

Student will be considered for regular instruction after an initial conference/lesson with the instructor, as well as a brief conference with at least one parent/guardian (if under 18). Before the first lesson, parents and students will sign a detailed studio policy acknowledging their understanding of and dedication to the music education program. Students who do not follow the Flute Lessons policies will be asked to seek educational opportunities elsewhere

WHAT TO BRING

·      Bring your flute, which should be well maintained with a cleaning rod and cleaning cloth

·      A folder or binder with current music, pencil, and notebook for assignments and lesson comments

·      A recording device, such as iPhone, iPod, iPad, etc. this will allow me to record important examples for students, allow for us to record portions of the lesson and facilitate good practice habits

WHAT YOU NEED AT HOME

·      Flute

·      Music stand

·      Metronome and Tuner

·      Recording device

ONLINE LESSONS

Communication technology (laptop or computer with webcam, preferably with Ethernet cable and higher internet speed for better connectivity) is needed. Be sure to check your connections, test call to make sure all is working well. I am available on Skype and FaceTime and will have both programs available. I strongly suggest you have both options available as well. I treat these as standard lesson times and if they are forgotten or missed, they cannot be made up.

COMMUNICATION

I prefer communicating via email. I will make my best effort to return your email within 24 hours. However if you need to contact me immediately please feel free to call/text my cell phone.

LESSON SCHEDULING

The lessons will be held once a week. Recommend length of lesson 30min, 45 and 60 min. Tardiness is deducted from your lesson time.

ATTENDANCE

Students should arrive for their lesson at least 5 minutes early. Students should complete given practice assignments and be prepared for the lesson.

REQUIRED BOOKS AND MUSIC

Students are required to purchase books and materials and bring these required materials and instruments to each lesson. I will assist the student to select the books based on their level.

FEES

Payments are due at the beginning of each month. A 30min class is $35, 45min/$45 and 60min/$55. Lessons can be paid either by cash or by check with checks made payable to Morina Flute Lessons. 

RECITALS

There is an excellent opportunity to share what you have learned through recital opportunities that are essential for the musical growth of each student. If a pianist is required, the student/parent is responsible for contacting the pianist (I will provide contact information). The pianist will provide their rehearsal and concert fee structure beforehand.

CANCELATIONS

Any lesson that I have to cancel will be made up or a credit will be given. No payment credit or makeup lessons will be provided for students who miss lessons for any reason. Lessons cancelled by students will not be made up. I require 24hour notice for all missed lessons. If you do not arrive within 15min of your scheduled lesson, the lesson will be cancelled and considered forfeit. Accepted short notice cancelations include: illness, family emergency and severe weather conditions. Lesson missed for those reasons will be made-up. Please avoid scheduling medical or orthodontic appointments during lesson times. 

I will cancel the lesson by phone or email with 24hour advanced notice, with the exception of illness or emergency.

DISCONTINUATION

In the event that a student needs to withdraw from lessons for any reason, four weeks of advance notice (and the tuition for those four weeks) is expected. No refunds are given for tuition.

CONCLUSION

Please feel free to call me with any questions regarding any aspect of your or your child’s musical study. I look forward to sharing my love of the flute and teaching with my students. Lessons should be a rewarding experience for everyone involved, and I look forward to making music together!
